LSK 30G (Formerly LSK 97G): Self-Management Skills for College

What is LSK 30G?

A 1-credit course designed for students interested in learning how to be successful in both college and life. Students work independently and in groups to participate in self-reflective and interactive activities. Come and learn personal strategies to help you manage your time, make wise decisions, and prepare for the rigors and demands of college. You'll learn vital skills that will empower you to become a creative learner and respond to educational challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of you.

Who can take this course?

Students enrolled in or placed into PCC 20, PCM 21, PCM 23, Eng 21, Eng 22, Math 24, Math 25, or Math 81.

What are the course goals?

  • Increase confidence in students and their ability to succeed;
  • Orient students to Kapiolani Community College and its resources;
  • Discover ways to become creative, responsible problem solvers;
  • Explore behaviors and attitudes that are conducive to college success.

What competencies will students attain?

  • The ability to evaluate their own experiences, such as through journal writing.
  • The ability to make wise decisions.
  • The ability to recognize and manage their emotions.
  • The practice of exploring and examining their academic and personal goals.
  • The practice of using technology to communicate with faculty and peers.
