Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse Transition Program

Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (LPN-RN Transition)

After successfully completing the Associate in Science degree in Nursing via the LPN-RN Transition program, you will be able to participate as a member of the health care team and communicate effectively with clients, families, and members of the team; provide teaching to clients, families, and staff which is appropriate to learning needs, cultural values and beliefs, and level of life span development; provide safe, competent nursing care based on integration of facts and principles of biological, psychological, sociological, cultural and spiritual functioning of clients throughout the life span; demonstrate an awareness of ethical issues related to nursing care in various settings; utilize all phases of the nursing process; be responsible and accountable for own learning and for participation in community and professional activities; and organize and manage the care of a small group of clients.

Curriculum

The AS degree in Nursing via the LPN-RN Transition program requires satisfactory completion of 56 credits.

The requirements listed in the catalog at the time of entry into the program are the ones you must fulfill for graduation. You also have the option to meet the requirements listed in subsequent catalogs. However, if you choose this option, you cannot combine requirements from two or more catalogs. For example, if you entered the program in fall 2006, you can fulfill the requirements in either the fall 2006 catalog or the fall 2007 catalog. However, you cannot combine requirements from both.

If you leave the program for a semester or more, you must fulfill the requirements in effect at the time of or subsequent to your re-entry. For example, if you entered the program in fall 2006, took a hiatus in spring 2007, and returned in fall 2007, you must fulfill the requirements in the catalog for fall 2007 or later.
