NLN RN Pre-Admissions Exam

The National League for Nursing (NLN) RN Pre-Admission Exam is an admissions requirement for the Associate Degree in Nursing Program and the LPN-RN Transition Program. The minimum acceptable composite score is 95. Results are generally posted within 3-4 weeks after the test date. The exam score remains current for three years. The exam may be retaken every 6 months. The higher score will be used if taken more than once.

Test Registration and Cost:

When you are ready to take the test, you can obtain a test application and registration form at the KCC Non-Credit Office in `Ilima 102A.

You will need to complete KCC Non-Credit Registration Form and pay the $99 registration fee.

The fee includes processing and postage, one score report mailed to you and one to the school that you designate. Additional score reports cost $50 each. You must have a copy of your exam score report sent directly from the NLN to Kapi‘olani Community College, Nursing Department by the application deadline.

Testing Location:

Test location is in the Kōpiko Building, Room 128 or in the ‘Ohi’a Building, Room 118. Please check the listing below for test dates and corresponding test locations. For a map of the KCC Campus, please click the link at the bottom of the page.

On Wednesdays or Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Please check listing below for specific test dates.

What to Bring:

On the day of the test, please bring a picture ID, your test receipt, and two sharpened (no. 2) pencils with erasers. A sweater or jacket is recommended. You will not be allowed to have a calculator, study guide or cell phone.

Request for Duplicate Exam Score Reports

To request a duplicate NLN score report, you must write a letter of request to the NLN and include the information below.

1. Indicate your full name, current address and social security number or NLN assigned identification number (if applicable);
2. Indicate the date and place where you took the test and test site program code (Kapi’olani CC);
3. Submit payment in the amount of $25.00 for each site you want the results sent to (Payment should be made via a money order or certified check made out to NLN. Credit cards are not accepted);

4. Indicate where you want the results sent by identifying the institution, the institution’s address and program code (see below).

5. Affix your signature on the letter.
6. Send your request directly to: National League for Nursing, 140 Washington Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
