Single Parents and Displaced Homemakers (SPDH) Program
Child Care Voucher
Not available for Spring 2008
The Child Care Voucher is one of the services of the Single Parents and Displaced Homemakers (SPDH) Program at Kapi’olani Community College. This programs is supported by the Carl Perkins Vocational Educational Act of 2006. The amount of the voucher will be determined by the funds available each year. This voucher must be used at the KCC Alani Children's Care Center. To qualify for Perkins declare funds, students must be in a career and technical major and enroll in related courses. These are A.S., C.A. or C.C. degrees, in majors such as Nursing, Health Sciences, Culinary, and Legal. Students taking 9 or more credits who need full-time hours of care for their children will be given priority. Students taking 6-8 credits may also be considered depending on the Center's availability of space for part-time care. Students taking less than 6 credits are not eligible. The voucher may assist with up to half of the tuition at Alani Children's Center for one semester.
Under the Perkins guidelines this Child Care voucher will be given to students who are Single Parents or Displaced Homemakers with the greatest financial need or who exhausted their financial aid eligibility. (U.S. Department of Census is used to determine low income standards.) Also, those closest to graduation will be given higher priority.
