| This nationally approved program will prepare students to obtain specimens from health care clients for the purpose of laboratory testing. Participants will learn to collect and process blood samples and other body fluids in a safe and accurate manner. A certificate of competence will be awarded when the participant completes the program requirements with a minimum grade of 70%.
Participants who complete the program are eligible to take the national certification exam provided by the National Certifying Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
The program consists of 2 courses. Part I (64-hours) will be taught on campus. Upon completion of Part I with a minimum score of 70%, the student will take the second course, Part II. It is a 100-hour clinical internship in a clinic or hospital. The following choices are available:
- Monday through Friday, 8 hour days - lasts 2 1/2 weeks; or
- Monday through Friday, 4 hour mornings - lasts 5 weeks
(No weekends or evenings available.)
In order to participate in the internship, you need to provide a copy of valid one-man CPR and Basic First Aid cards. |
