Information Technology

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I consider information technology as a career?
Yes, if you are detail-oriented and interested in computers, and work well with numbers and formulas.

What degrees and certificates do you offer?
The certificate of completion (CC), the certificate of achievement (CA), and the associate in science (AS) degree. You may earn the CA first, then continue your enrollment to earn the AS degree. The CC is for professional programmers interested in upgrading their skills.

How do I know which advising sheet to follow to help me choose my classes?
If you began the Information Technology program before the Fall 2007 semester, you can choose to stay with the old program or do the new one. If you declared your Information Technology major in the Fall 2007 semester or later, you must follow the Fall 2007 Information Technology Advising Sheet.

Do I need to maintain a certain grade and grade point average in these courses?
Yes. For an AS or CA, you must earn:

  • a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 ("C" average) or higher for all required courses and
  • a grade of ā€œCā€ or better in all required information technology courses.

What were the requirements in previous years?
For requirements in past years, contact a program counselor or view the previous online catalogs.

When can I enter the program?
You can enter in the fall and spring.
