Hawaii Residency for Tuition Purposes
Tuition cost to attend Kapiolani Community College is based on whether you are a resident or non-resident of the State of Hawaii. Residency for tuition purposes is based on a specific set of regulations and not only on whether you live in the state.
A condensed version of the residency regulations is included in the UH System Application Form. The complete “Rules and Regulations Governing Determination of Residency as Applied to Tuition Payments and Admission at All Institutions Under the Jurisdiction of the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii” is available at Kekaulike Information and Service Center (KISC). See contact information below. For general information, see "Admission Residency Regulations" under the Related Links section.
Nonresident applicant must pay a $25.00 nonrefundable, nontransferable application fee. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces stationed in Hawaii, on active military duty, and their authorized dependents are exempt from this fee. The Nonresident Application Fee Payment Form is available for printing. Attach a money order or check payable to Kapiolani Community College to your application and submit to KISC.
For more information on establishing residency for tuition purposes, exceptions, and the appeal process, see "Admission Residency Regulations" under the Related Links section or contact the residency officer at KISC.
